Market Dominance — an asset’s share of total market capitalization

An asset’s percentage share of total market capitalization — the market-cap counterpart to Social Dominance.

Market Dominance is the percentage of total market capitalization that a single asset represents within its market. If Bitcoin has a Market Dominance of 58%, it accounts for 58% of the combined market cap of the tracked crypto universe. It is the market-cap counterpart to Social Dominance, and reading the two side by side is where it becomes most useful: one shows how much of the money an asset holds, the other how much of the conversation. It is reported as market_dominance in API responses.
